Park Slope Halloween 2024
Pictures taken in Park Slope (Brooklyn) on Halloween afternoon and evening October 31, 2024.
Also includes pictures from Park Slope Parents's Costume Contest held on Sunday, October 27th in Washington Park. It was in a new location for me in the park, and I only had my sidewalk lens, so I could not get the contestants well.

1: October 27th: 1:50 PM. A
Wizard of Oz family: Dorothy, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, and Tin Man.
2: 1:58 PM. Greek Gods: Medusa, Poseidon (Neptune), Zeus, Grecian Goddess.
3: 1:59 PM. On the left is Shiny Chariot,
Little Witch Academia. The yellow triangle is
Bill Cipher. He won in the Construction category. He also showed up for the parade.
4: 2:00 PM. A pink princess and penguin.
5: 2:07 PM. This was the On Wheels category: a subway train car construction, and a princess on a float.
6: 2:11 PM. This may have been the Traditional category? A witch, a grim reaper, a little girl in a Squishmallows
Sketlana the Skeleton costume, and a clown.
7: 2:11 PM. Marjorie Taylor Greene's claim about Hurricane Helene is true. Here is the culprit: "I am the Democrat who controls the weather."

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, a skeleton family, two ringmasters with a little Dumbo, Wizard of Oz family, and two flowers with a butterfly.

Merida, the main protagonist of the 2012 Disney/Pixar film
Brave. With the sash saying "Enchanted." When she was a princess she wore a turquoise dress. The rest of the time she wore white tights and brown shoes, like her daughter is wearing. But with a dark teal dress, and not the red sequin seen here.

18: Now Halloween Day: 3:33 PM. 480 1st St. The problem with those cobwebs, besides the plastic waste, is leaves stick to them big time. And sticky to pull off.

Heap's Ice Cream. New to the neighborhood and new to the ice cream business. His jar with treats is way too small. They will learn.

Michael Myers from the slasher film series Halloween. The children? The girl could be Judith Myers.
40: 4:47 PM. Darth Vader and a Star Wars Tie Fighter, which typically attacked short-range in swarms. Parents are Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker.
41: 4:49 PM. A cat, a fisherman, and two little bats.
42: 4:53 PM. Mom is wearing a shark hat. The girl in back is in a Mal Evie Jacket. In front is
Mal of the Descendants franchise. Note the dog is wearing glasses.

51: 5:19 PM. There was a group of young girls singing and dancing by the side of Pinkberry. The two girls in matching costumes are Anne Boleyn.
52: 5:19 PM. A spaceman going into outerspace. Mom is the outerspace.
54: 5:23 PM. The group that was singing by Pinkberry with their friends.
56: 5:24 PM. Pepper and salt. They should switch sides.

58: 5:31 PM. Two vintage Russian / CCCP Red Star gas masks with the filters missing. Good thing, as the filters contained chrysotile or crocidolite asbestos. The dress on the left is a MUXXN Contrast Collar Button Detail Fold Pleated Belted Church Dress from Shein.

60: 5:34 PM. Two inflatable dinosaurs from Spirit in lime-green. In Toy Story, Rex the dinosaur has lime-green skin. They are wearing the gloves and shoe coverings, and not collecting treats.
61: 5:43 PM. Now four inflatable dinosaurs. The orange are T-Rex. The prior two were only nine minutes earlier. If only I could have had all six together...
62: 5:44 PM. The first is a green monster?, then a silver Ghostface mask from
Scream, then a skeleton mask.
63: 5:53 PM. First is Candy Land. Then Cinderella. Next is likely a witch. Then a gold cat holding a Japanese Lucky Fengshui Cat (
Maneki-neko). The gold for wealth. The last in a Disney Princess Icon Snow White dress.

Princess Peach in Nintendo's Mario franchise. Then a raindeer. Lastly, a scarecrow wearing a Poncho (a Pokémon) Pikachu cape.
67: 6:17 PM. The house on the southwest corner of 1st St and 8th Ave. Each year the tenants (in a rental building) run a haunted house. It hadn't started yet.

70: 6:41 PM. Monster Mask (looks like Chicken-of-the-Woods mushrooms) and inflatable Stay Puff Marshmellow Man.

100: 7:16 PM. Butterfly wings open. Dad is a skeleton, Mom is ? (The Phantom of the Opera mask was on the other side.) In front: Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, Mario, Anna from
Frozen, Batgirl, Black Panther and Batman.
101: 7:16 PM. Then the butterfly wings closed to protect the little ones.
102: 7:17 PM. Areaway at 410 3rd St.
103: 7:18 PM. A 10-foot tall grim reaper animatronic on 3rd St.

105: 7:20 PM. Oops. I took the inflatable elephant again. And it was only 11 minutes between the pictures.

112: 7:34 PM. 385 3rd St was still using their delivery tubes from the pandemic.

114: 7:35 PM. Monkey skeletons climbing a tree.
115: 7:36 PM. A foggy graveyard on 3rd St. Several homes had fog machines. Now for sale like everywhere.
116: Next Day: 2:01 PM. 591 3rd St. The one at the right is the best. Taken with my inexpensive cellphone.
117: The Day After That: My tenants tried their hands at carving a couple pumpkins. When they grew up, their home countries were not yet into pumpkin carving. There is a projector behind the window.
